Tools
The tools are grouped by source, the way they appear in your assistant. You don't need to memorize them: the assistant picks and calls the right tool based on your question.
Before you rely on a result
- Check validity before citing. Searches return currently valid results by default. consultar returns the full text along with a validity status (situacao); check it before citing anything.
- Binding force has three tiers. Case law is either binding (vinculante, mandatory for every court), strongly persuasive (obrigatoria), or merely persuasive (persuasiva). Use buscar_vinculantes when you need binding precedent only.
- State precedents bind locally. A state-level binding precedent (an IRDR) only binds within the state that decided it, which is why a state is always required for that search.
- Low relevance scores deserve a second look. Every result carries a relevance score. Below roughly 0.5–0.6, treat it as a weak match and check it yourself before relying on it.
- Relationships between precedents come pre-mapped. A result may show that it was superseded by a more recent ruling, or that an STJ theme corresponds to an STF repercussão-geral case. Supply your case's fact date to check whether a conditional relationship applies to it.

buscar_artigos
Semantic search over federal legislation. Returns the most relevant articles with text, their position in the law, and identifiers to dig deeper.
- -query (required): natural-language question or keywords, in Portuguese.
- -area: filter by legal area(s) (e.g. 'tributario').
- -norma: filter by a specific law; accepts common aliases (e.g. 'CDC', 'LEP') and ignores accents.
- -limit: number of results (default 5, max 10).
explorar_contexto
Navigates a law's index (sections and articles) and, for an article, shows its mapped relations: cites, cited by, and amends.
- -search_id: explore the section containing an article (a handle from buscar_artigos).
- -norma + section_id: navigate a law's structure by section.
- -limit / offset: pagination of the section's articles.
